About Cabarita Beach
Cabarita Beach is located in the northeastern part of New South Wales. This occupies a thin strip of beach-side land along the Coral Sea Coast and east of Tweed Coast Road near the Tweed Heads suburb of Bogangar.
This connects Hastings Points to the south and Casuarina to the north. Based on the 2016 Census, the Cabarita Beach had a total 103 population.
History of Cabarita Beach
Cabarita is an ancient word which means “by the water”. David Anderson, a private soldier in NSW Corps was granted land in this area in 1795. An area of Cabarita Point was then reserved for public recreation in 1856.
The first development in Cabarita Beach was the opening of the Cabarita Hotel on December 17, 1960.
In the past, the suburb consisted of swampland and heavy industry. An electric Tramway runs down the Cabarita road, which connects the suburb to Burwood, Enfield, and Ashfield via the Junction near the corner of Mortlake Street in 1948.
